Navan is a small community that is slowly being absorbed by Ottawa. The community is maintaining its tradition of having an August Fair
The fair has a large rural "bent" to it including horse judging. The horses are big and small.
Clydesdale horses are very tall and solid. They and Belgian horses are judged in many classes including, alone, with carts and with wagons

They were making note of the 30th anniversary of the 50 horse hitch. A model was on display
One building had animals mainly aimed at the kids, including a petting zoo and a pot-bellied pig.
I don't recall seeing a sheep chewing its cud before 🙄...
The alpacas were only interested is being close to the fans - it was a hot day!

There was a parade (that we missed) the day we were there. I caught a few tractors coming back from the parade
The midway was sized appropriately to the size of the fair
The dog show included some trained cats
