We went for a stroll through Fletcher Wildlife Garden, hoping the coopers hawk might be around. Better still the barred owl, or even the great horned owl. The coopers did fly in, spring plant and flower growth caught the eye. No owls, but their not having been seen for over a month, we knew the chances were slim.
A hairy woodpecker gave us a nice over the shoulder pose, but then also an unusal stretched out pose
A mallard pair were checking out the stream below the pond dam.
The coopers hawk flew in announcing his presence with loud calls. But, as usual, he perched high up in the trees. In a few weeks the leaves will hide him.
Two non-wild plants were in bloom. Daffodils and the magnolia tree
Bloodroot was flowering in bunches, small groupings and some singletons
No blooms showing yet on the mayapples

The pasqueflower was in full bloom
We only saw one blue violet
Fiddleheads were popping up all over
Ostrich fern
These have been identified, by iNaturalist.com, as ostrich ferns too, but I'm not so sure
Cinnamon Ferns

A chipmunk seemed curious about what was going on
