The photos and video are not good due to bright sun, fine blowing snow and distance involved (600-800 yards) but the nature story was very interesting for me.
We were driving rural fields south of Kanata looking for snowy owls when we spotted moving black dots against the bright snow way off in the distance. At first we guessed wild turkeys, but then it quickly became apparent they were four coyotes and one was missing a front leg.
Until now, I had only seen lone coyotes in the city.
I assume the three "able bodied" coyotes were looking after the handicapped one. In the photos below, the coyote missing the leg is at the right. (Click on the photo to enlarge it).
(Subsequent to writing this, I learned that coyotes do not run in packs like wolves, but will stay in family groups and look out for each other)

In the video, the "top" coyote, despite the distance, seemed to be keeping a wary eye on me. At the end of the video, the coyote missing the leg had no difficulty jumping the fence. I wonder how it made out in the recent large snow falls.
The couple of "blips" are passing cars.
