A non-camera walk around Andrew Haydon (urban) Park in Ottawa's west end saw disant sandpipers and killdeer, but also a rarity for Ottawa - a greater white fronted goose. Plus a young great blue heron and a chipmunk. So I was "forced" to pull out the cellphone.....
The goose was very co-operative and let me get relatively close and then it walked towards me.
A great blue heron was at near side of a creek shoreline looking for a meal. It didn't seem to mind me getting closer to it (15'/5m). The heron had a very striped neck which apparently indicates a young bird.
It's demeanor reminded of the heron at Mud Lake a few weeks ago that allowed me to get quite close. Looking at the photos now, it too had a striped neck. Same bird? or just another young bird?
A chipmunk had climbed into a bush to watch us watch the heron
I didn't get a decent still photo, but a teenage mallard duck seemed to have been adopted by three adult (or earlier hatched juveniles)
A not often seen, a circular cattail
