Right place, Right time!
Don't often see two beaver performing their morning's ablutions
Their lodge (photo) was just behind them, they were sitting on a mound where the bare branches attest to it being their local hangout
While the dam looks solid, there obviously must be an overflow spot to accommodate all the water flowing through the bog. There was quite a current in one of the east end channels
The merlin App told us there were lots of birds around. Very few did we see, but we saw a few it didn't hear. We saw (and heard) a swamp sparrow, a tree sparrow, a few robins, a (barn?) swallow, and a chickadee. We also saw blue jays, mallards and ring-necked ducks. Plus a few preverbal Canada geese
The swamp sparrow performed
The tree sparrow was at the parking lot
Mallard and ring-necked ducks
(Previously I had only see ring-necked in Florida, this year I have seen them in several local places)
A few scenic sights: Backlit oak leaves, new grass shoots, young pines amongst the blueberries, raindrops glistening on a spruce tree, lichen
Elder tree catkins have bloomed
The cattails have just about had it
Two views of the bog, one normal wide angle, the other a 120° angle panorama that almost bends the boardwalk in half
At least one pussy willow and a red squirrel checking for seeds (and finding them) at the end of our walk in the parking lot
