The green herons were staying a bit too distant for my liking, but the geese weren't shy. On one visit a group of goslings and parents were resting down by the water. On a later visit, with the goslings looking older, they were up by the path in the shade on a warm morning
Shortly after, on the second visit, the older goslings and a single younger one went out onto the playing fields to cut the grass for the City 😊 and then returned to the shade and carried on down to the water.
A single egret was visiting the Ponds on both visits, but was much closer to us on the first visit
But it didn't hang around in one spot very long
During the second visit, the egret was further away, but seemed be having good luck in finding minnows very quickly
A wide variation of ducklings' ages was on display during the second visit. In one group the ducklings were virtually fully grown, but still following mum. Another solitary young duckling was keeping close to mum
The green herons were keeping their distance, either sitting on a lily patch or two on the far side relaxing on a branch
Two chipmunks, sitting in a tree, greeted us on the second visit. Chipmunks in a tree isn't rare, but not often seen
A few wildflowers were in bloom during the visits. Scroll over for ID
