It was relatively quiet, 2-3 green herons on the far side of the pond, until one finally dropped in closer. No egrets, a few fully grown mallard duck juveniles and a few others birds seen or heard.
Two green herons here, if you look hard left and right, along with some reatling mallards on the far side of the pond

Another green heron was slightly more co-operative, fishing in the first pond where the far side is closer. Despite his patience, and balance, no luck was had while we were watching

One of them finally moved over to the fishing spot closer to the area where most photographers sit and wait. The painted turtle didn't mind sharing the log.

A heads up for this video. It is relatively long, showing the bird's patience and fishing style, with the heron catching a miniscule minnow at the end
In a spot, on the far side, where we have seen them before, a black-crowned night heron was dealing with a fish he had caught

The mallards seemed to be in reduced numbers. All the juveniles were fully fledged

Seemed there was only one cormorant on the ponds and everytime I pointed the camera at it, it dove😊. I finally managed one shot with its head above the water

Two ring-billed gulls were overseeing the ponds, one with an accompanying starling

A phoebe, way over across the pond....

A flicker, hiding under a spruce tree, busy digging out a snack

A few robins were looking for worms in the parched grass

The birds the Merlin app heard. Some I saw, fewer I photographed

This late in the summer, on a hot day, you don't often see turtles basking. But there were 3-4

The milkweed pods are getting ready to burst and spread their seeds

I seem to only notice highbush cranberries in the winter when they standout against the bare trees, but here there were certainly visible

A vine I recognized from my childhood, Wild cucumber.
We used to have "fights' throwing very prickly wild cucumbers at each other
