An afternoon visit, didn't really think I find much. compared to a summer visit, I didn't, but I was quite happy with most of what I found, especially the ducks
The sun reflecting off the snow showed up what looked like shards of ultra thin ice flakes. The camera didn't catch it well....
There were 6-8 turkeys on the road at the entrance to the trail. They didn't move quickly for passing cars and in one case, had to be shoo'ed out of the way. There seemed to be one female and the rest males, all were last year hatchings I think.
A few of them followed us down the trail as they knew we had some seeds for the small birds.
There were a few grey squirrels and black squirrels
Unlike the turkeys that stomp the snow down when they are looking for food, the squirrels lightfoot it across the snow
While the pileated and hairy woodpeckers were at a distance, it was good to see them along with the downy woodies who are rarely at a distance.
Anyone hungry?? It was nice of the downy to come by twice and show us her front and back.
There were a few areas on the trail where seeds had been left for the birds. Not far from the entrance on a rock as in the photo below and on a stump as seen in the video
The chickadees keep a close on you as you walk down the trails, especially if you pause to look at something
A pair of goldeneye ducks were very co-operative
Male and female mallards also were co-operative
A bit of lichen caught my eye....
