There was one lone bird at the entrance. - a white-breasted nuthatch. An NCC sign between the end of the trail and the picnic area asks people not to feed the birds and lays out the reasons (birds become dependent, disease spread, etc)

We arrived shortly after 8am, a beaver was making its way back to the lodge. It was at the eastern end of the pond and was really nothing but a small dark object making V ripples in the water (centre left in photo)

The water level is down about 3". A long portion of the floating boardwalk isn't floating any more. Many plants that like wet feet are above the waterline

Tawny cotton grass with its two or there "spears" is quite prevalent in some areas

The berries of the Possumhaw (I think that is what it is) and the black choke cherry are before the start of the floating boardwalk


Some of the peace lilies are in bloom and some have gone to seed


The false solomon seals are all showing their berries

The Merlin birding app, identified many birds singing, we saw a few, but none would stay still long enough for a photo
