A brief walk in the woods in early July produced some fungi, one of my favourite flowers and a wood frog
The flowers referred to are Indian Pipes. Many people look at them and assume they are a fungus. But they are a perennial flower, the difference being is they contain no chlorophyll.
Wood frogs aren't rare, they just aren't seen that often. I only see them in the woods, not near any water. They blend in very well with the leaf litter on the ground, so unless you spot some movement, you will likely pass them by unseen.
I wasn't expecting any fungus/mushrooms as it had been fairly dry and a little early, but there was some mushrooms etc
